So sometimes Sailor Moon fans are just so full of win because they know their art history and mythology and astronomy and junk. Which is probably because Takeuchi herself was all up into Alphonse Mucha and high fashion and was a crazy chemistry major-turned sci-fi mangaka who named everyone after famous myths and random minerals and made classy references to classy things like Van Gogh and famous singing groups and also made really elaborate puns that sadly get lost in translation. I mean, even the anime openings which had almost nothing to do with Naoko usually had some kind of crazy awesome reference to something. (I’m thinking of the Roman Holiday episode in Supers. And all the TARDISes scattered in Stars)

And then the fans get all classy and stuff too.

It makes my heart proud it does.
