09. I have Chilopodophobia

Which, according to the internet, is the phobia name for fear of centipedes.

I have a extreme fear of those fucking things.

No joke; I cry and shake when they’re even mentioned to me. When I see one, if I’m not screaming my head I’m fucking paralyzed with fear.

It really doesn’t help that my house is subjected to them during the spring.

(yet another reason to add to my list of ‘why I hate spring’)

08. One of my favorite myths of all time is the story of Adonis’ mother, Myrrha

Which is very weird considering what the story is about. That is to say incest. Depending on what translation you get, it could be somewhat willful on Myrrha’s part too (I say somewhat in the term of wanting and not wanting)

For those who don’t know the story, I’ll sum it up best I can. Myrrha is the daughter of Cinyras (or Theias), King of Assyria. Without going into detail on the different versions, Myrrha harbors forbidden love for her father, which fill her with so much despair, confusion, and disgust, she attempts to kill herself. However a maid stops her and agrees to help her find away to fulfill her dark desires. They do so (in one version during a festival) and are able to trick the King into unknowingly sleeping with the girl for quite some time. But the King, who had only met the girl in the dark, wanted to know her identity and switched on the light, discovering Myrrha. The King was angered and drew his sword, but Myrrha was able to escape. As she ran, she prayed to the gods to (as the book I first read the story in put it) “make her neither living nor dead, for even those in the underworld would frown upon what she had done”. Zeus, taking pity on her, turned her into a myrrh tree and from her thunk she gave birth to Adonis.

I seriously have no idea what draws me so into this myth. I guess it’s because from the gecko I felt so bad for Myrrha. What happened to her, how she went through it, and how she ended was undeserved, in my opinion. She suffer for what she wanted to the point where she almost killed herself to try and stop it. Hell, in one version Aphrodite is the one who did it to her! She really was a voiceless character and the final act of being turned into a tree because she was so ashamed is really just…well…hollowing.

If you ever get a chance, I think you guys so check out the different versions. Even if the material makes you uncomfortable (but this is a Greek myth), it is still an interesting read.

07. I went to a Catholic Girls Highschool referred to as “The Whores by the Shore”

Which is totally uncalled for when you think about it

I mean

It’s not a shore. More like a bank if you want to call it something.

Hell, it was more like a cliff where the school was located. You went passed the gate, you would fall because it was so steep and kill yourself.

True facts.

But I guess “The Whores by the Really-Steep-Cliff-like-Bank” isn’t as catchy.

06. I’ve been working on a comic series for the past five years

And it’s still in the development stages. Not from a lack of trying, mind you—my sketch books are filled to the brim with character designs and changes.

I think what it comes down to is trying to drag the story from this rather…weeaboo beginning and at least give something interesting.

Also, art skills. I still do not have those. But I’m working on it…oh am I working on it.

04. I have zero to no interest in alcohol

I’m not saying it to be cool or a goody-two shoes. I’ve had my share of alcoholic beverages and I honestly do not care for them. They’re bitter and nasty, even the Hard Lemonades I’ve been handed, and, you know what? I honestly do not like the idea of ingesting something that is going to impair my judgement so made I might black out and/or hurt myself.

The funny thing with this is that I’ve told a number of people this and each of them have told me ‘you won’t be saying that when you hit twenty-one’. Why? What will change? The drinks will still taste bitter, it’ll still dull my senses, and I’ll still have enough around me just as I do now.

My feelings for alcohol is like my feelings for peas. I don’t like peas. I’ve never liked peas. And, hey, guess what? In three years, I’ll probably still hate peas. So don’t tell me I’m being silly. If I don’t like something, I won’t be eating/drinking it.

That said, if people want to drink; then drink. I have no problem with other people so long as they don’t shove it down my throat.

01.

My favorite channel to watch is Discovery Investigation.

My sister is the only person who can sit through a show with me. It’s the only channel I know my brothers can’t watch without leaving the room.
